I taught English to hundreds of high school students over 11 years in elite classrooms in Johannesburg, including Crawford International Sandton College – and I’ve tutored many students, one-on-one, breaching the barriers and muck of their classes, helping them understand how questions are written, how to craft responses and how to use intelligence and skill, not brute force and rote learning, to gain the high marks they deserve.
So many kids are bright and capable, but they don’t get the validation they need in class to realize their dizzying potential. They need a champion in their corner, someone who’s worked with teenagers for years and knows how to leverage rapport, trust and joy to get them to excel. That’s how I taught in the classroom, and that’s how I tutor my clients today, whether they just need a boost before exams or they need help with everything. All good!
